The way that Jesus understands and relates to the Father as he contemplates the lilies of the field and the birds of the sky (cf. Lk 12:22-31), helps us to understand the nature of trusting total self-abandonment to the Father’s dynamic action in our lives.

The true protagonist of our Order’s history is Providence:  it is God’s Providence that guided our hesitant beginnings and continues to keep watch over us today.

Aware of its presence among us, we try to cultivate a relationship of trust and confidence with Providence.  We live and work with it ever in view, striving to open our hearts and minds to its action, so that we can call ourselves “Sisters of Providence”.

God the Father, in his gratuitous love for us, has called us to life and continuously takes care of us.  He arranges all things so that we can know him and love him, in order to be truly happy as we attain to the good that He has always desired for us.

In our spirituality, as well as satisfying our more immediate human needs, Providence is the Wisdom that orders events so that every individual can open up to the love of the Father.

Is it possible to find happiness outside of this relationship?

We Rosminians believe that self-abandonment to Providence is an act of both faith and reason:  human fulfilment is possible only by returning to the very source of our being, and our anxiety can be quelled only if we fully rediscover ourselves within our relationship of love with the Father.

In encountering God’s wise Providence, our response is trust.
